IMG 0945MAYFIELD, KY., — Cinda A. Caldwell, 85, born, Nov. 14, 1931, of Mayfield, KY, passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at the Heritage Manor in Mayfield, KY.

She was a member of St. James A.M.E. Church, Mayfield, KY where she previously served as an Usher, attended Dunbar School, loved working at Mayfield Hospital and Community Hospital, where she retired as a nurse assistant.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hatha Caldwell; mother, Kathleen Johnson; father, Richard Cecil Johnson; brother, Jack Johnson; and a sister Colleen Johnson.

Survivors include 4 sons Charles Kendrick, Chris (Lynnetta) Kendrick

and Johnny Kendrick all of Mayfield, Robert (Dorothy) Kendrick, Greenville, 2 daughters Trilby Powell and Rose (Randy) Adair both of Mayfield, 15 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, 1 brother Theodore (Ted) Johnson, 1 niece, 1 nephew and a host of cousins and friends.

Services are Saturday 1pm July 15, 2017 at St. James A.M.E. Church 419 S. 8th Street in Mayfield, KY.

Visitation 11am – 1pm at the church on Saturday. Burial in Oak Rest Cemetery, Mayfield, KY. Dr. Leroy Brent, Officiating and Rev. Rita Story, Eulogist.

IMG 6648Drakesboro, KY., —  Mary Perline Mason, 90, of Drakesboro passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at the Heartford House in Owensboro, KY. She was born on March 5, 1927, in Drakesboro, Ky.

She was a member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Drakesboro where she previously served on the Usher Board and held the honor of being a “Mother of the Church.”

She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin Mason, 2 daughters, Diane Mason Goins, and Wanda Jean Shelton

Survivors include 2 sons, Melvin (Gloria) Mason of Louisville, KY, and Carl Lendell Mason of Drakesboro, KY, 2 daughters Martha Jane Starks of Louisville, KY, and Carol Denise Stoudemire of Drakesboro, KY, 12 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, 2 sisters Mae Helen Chambers of Browder, KY, and Carolyn Louise Reed Drakesboro, KY, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Services are Saturday, 1pm June 24, 2017, at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Drakesboro, KY.

Ms. DonzellaGreenville, KY.,— Donzella Y. Johnson, 65 born  March 19, 1952, of Greenville, KY, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017 at the Signature Healthcare at Hillcrest in Owensboro.

She was a member of Browder Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, Browder, KY, President of the Matron’s Board, Mother of the Church, pianst of Browder Chapel and was employed at Perdue Farms as an inspector. She sang and served as assistant pianist for the BAAM Mass Community Choir.

She was preceded in death by her husband Archie Johnson, Jr.,  both parents John Henry and Helen Frazier, four brothers, John Frazier, Archie Frazier, David Frazier, and Joe Frazier, two daughters, Samantha Frazier and Helena Frazier.

Survivors include Five sons, Archie Johnson, Beaver Dam, KY, Shondese ( Regina) Frazier, Owensboro, KY, Dameon (Annetta) Johnson  Hendersonville, TN, Donahue (Leah) Johnson, Owensboro, KY, Lamar (Danise) Johnson, Louisville, KY ; two daughters, Kim Hocker, Madisonville, KY,and Laura (Joe) White, Owensboro, KY; 12 Grandchildren; two brothers: James(Ruby) Frazier, Chicago, IL and Ricky (Debbie) Frazier, Russellville, KY; two uncles,  a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Lorenzo Wilson Harbin, Jr., 84, passed away Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016.  

He was executive accountant for Bankers Life and Blue Cross and Blue Shield Insurance Company.

He is survived by his children and grandchildren; sister, Margaret H. Dulin; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, at A.D. Porter & Sons Funeral Home in Louisville, Kentucky. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Friday at Wesley Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Greenville, Kentucky. Visitation from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. at the church on Friday. Burial in West End Cemetery, Greenville.

Phyllis Evetta GottCLEATON, Ky. — Phyllis Evetta Gott, 75, of Cleaton, Ky., died Friday, July 29, 2016,at the Owensboro Health Regional Hospital in Owensboro, Ky. She was born on March 6, 1941, in Sacramento, Ky. 

She was a graduate of Sacramento High School, moved to Cleaton in 1959, and was married to the love of her life, Mr. Billy Gott, for 48 years.

She became a member of the Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church where she faithfully served in the following capacities; president of the Senior Choir, Pastor’s Aide, Mother’s Board, and Missionary Board. Also, she served as the assistant Church Treasurer, Missionary Treasurer, Sunday School Teacher, and Sunday School Superintendent.

In addition, she was a member of the Senior Choir, the Ensemble Choir, and Praise Team along with being an active, dedicated member of the 1st District Association, KMBA Women’s Auxiliary and Circle #4. She worked at Cowdens Sewing Factory and H&R Block in Central City, Ky.

Survivors include one son; David W. (Teresa Heltsley) Gott, of Central City; two daughters, Ramona (Johnny) Bard, of Cleaton, and Debra Martin, of Central City; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four brothers, Steve E. Bowling, of Henderson, Ky., R. T. Bowling, Jr., of Owensboro, Ky., Jerry Bowling, of Sacramento, and Michael Venerable, of Paducah, Ky.; six sisters, Sandra L. Bowling and Mary F. Webb, both of Providence, Ky., Linda S. Dykes and Clara S. Bowling, both of Owensboro, Sharon Scott, of Davenport, Iowa, and Linda (Felix) Thruston, of Los Angeles, Calif.; one aunt, Annie C. Walker, of Milwaukee, Wisc.; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Her parents, William “Bill” Venerable and Clarice Short Bowling, both preceded her in death.

Services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday,  Aug. 3, at Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Cleaton. Visitation 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday and 11 a.m. Wednesday until time of service. Burial will be in West End Cemetery in Greenville, Ky., with Rev. James R. Young, Sr., officiating.
